Character Info: You are Mercedes Jones, played by the talented Amber Riley on the now finished show, Glee. I have mixed feelings about Mercedes. In the beginning, I liked her. She was an interesting character and there is no denying that she can sing. Few on the show can belt it out like she can. However, of all the characters, she's the one that started to grate on me the most as the show went on. And I found her ending to be particularly unbelievable (opening act for Beyonce? Really?) Nevertheless, she is an important part of the show and this game is her time to shine.
Powers: Diva: Mercedes is a Diva. From the beginning that was always one of her defining traits. She doesn't like to be put in the background and she will step on other people's toes to get to the spot light. Which kinda makes her a perfect Role Blocker. Hence, that is what you will be doing for your mafia.
Character Info: You are Troy Barnes, played by Donald Glover on one of the best comedies around, Community. Troy was never my favourite character on Community, but I won't deny his importance. I loved his relationship with Abed and out of the three cast members that have left, he is the one that I was saddest to see go, as I think there is lots they could have still done with him. But them's the breaks. Troy was a Football star in highschool, but an injury cost him his scholarship and he winded up at Community college. Naive and optimistic, his absence on the show is still felt today.
Powers: Air Conditioning Repair: A reoccurring story-line in Community was Troy's innate ability to fix things that are broken. A leaky pipe, a water fountain or an air conditioner. You will function as your mafia's guide. If someone tries to break one of your targets powers (through role blocking or misdirecting), you will be on hand to fix it. The Sun Chamber: You also have access to the Sun Chamber. A box that heats up slowly with nothing but a broken AC unit. This box is not a problem for you, as you can fix it easily, but locking someone else in there will cause massive heat stroke. You can use this to silence one member of the town for the following phase. You cannot use both powers together. Must be one of the other.
Character Info:You are Ben Bruckner, played by Robert Gant on the show Queer as Folk. I'm going to be honest with you, Ben wasn't originally in this game. He was a last minute addition. But I got a couple extra players and I decided I needed an extra mafia member. The theme is shows I've used multiple times before, and by coincidence, all the other mafia members were college aged, as I ran with that as the game setting. Finding a character that fit all these requirements was tough, until I realised I never used Ben before and he is a college professor. He fit all the requirements I needed to be in the mafia. After that, I decided since he is a professor and the rest all students (or at least student aged), it made sense for Ben to be the Don (it was originally going to be Tara). And there we have it. Here you are, mafia Don! Your character was introduced to QaF in the second season but became the love interest (and later, husband) of one of the show's central characters. You are a professor of gay-studies at Carnegie Mellon University and two time author. A smart but not-perfect man, you've managed to overcome a lot in your life (including being diagnosed with HIV) to finally find a loving partner and create a loving family.
Powers: Teaching the Young: You are the Don of this mafia. This means you are in charge of getting the actions in on time. As a bonus, this also comes with the standard Town-cloak to protect you from cops.
Research Required: Any professor knows the importance of doing your research. You are the mafia's information gatherer and role claim provider. Each phase, you may come up with a role claim and ask me if it is a good one or not. I will respond, not only with a yes or no, but with reasons why it is a good claim or not (and I'll even be fairly specific). This information could be vital in providing your mafia with safe claims when the time comes.
Character Info: You are Tara Maclay, played by Amber Benson on one of my all time favourite shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy is probably the most represented show in this series of games. I've used all the main characters at this point except Tara, so she is giving this show the official send off (as it probably won't be back again). I loved Tara. She was a great character and really helped advance Willow's story. Her death is still the saddest thing on the show for me (even more so than Buffy's mom). That is why I saved for for last.
Powers: Magically Inclined: In Buffy, you were first introduced as a member of Willow's wiccan group, and were shown to be the only other magically inclined one. While you never had the raw talent Willow did, you are the more experienced witch. And have always had a knack for it. In this game, you are using your magically abilities in a defensive manner. You are the mafia doctor and can protect your target from all sorts of things, not just kills.
Character Info: You are George Michael Bluth, played by the perpetually awkward Michael Cera on the show Arrested Development. These mafia games have cruel to the Bluth family. You've lost pretty much everyone you were close to; your dad, nana, pop-pop, all of your aunts and uncles. That's why it's time for a little revenge, or something. After all, as the last remaining Bluth, the company is now yours... or it would if all the assents weren't constantly frozen.
Powers: George Maharis: College was good for you. You came out of your shell and are making strides to shed that timid awkwardness that plagued your youth. You even started calling yourself by a new name (George Maharis... not the best fake name but you created it on the spot). George Maharis is confident and willing to lie and play dirty. Ironic that it took changing your name to really become a Bluth. Anyways, as Maharis, you are a misdirector. However, your power isn't completely random, it has a better than average chance of working in your mafia's favor.
Character Info: You are Eli Navarro, better known simple as Weevil in one of my favourite shows of all time, Veronica Mars. The biker with the heart of gold, you spent your youth leading a gang known as the PCHers (Pacific Coast Highway) but mellowed out a little later on. After being arrested during your high school graduation you turned your life around, leaving the game and eventually getting employed as a janitor at the local college.
Powers: PCH For your power, you will be channelling your younger self. You are a biker through and through. This makes you the mafia bus driver. You can switch two targets at night so people targeting either one will hit the other. However, as I do with all mafia busdrivers, I am placing a restriction that you can not target the person you guys are trying to night kill with this power.
